Estill (pronounced “Estel”) is located in the southern half of Hampton County.
Estill is located 52 miles North of Savannah, Georgia, 64 miles Northwest of Hilton Head Island, SC and 93 miles West of Charleston, SC. The 2013 U.S. Census Bureau population estimate is 2,040 persons. Major employers include Federal Correctional Institute – Estill, Hampton School District #2, Archer Daniels Midland, Ecogy Bio-fuels, and Elliott Sawmilling. The major industries are timber and agriculture. The Estill area is known for deer and turkey hunting. South Carolina reportedly has the longest hunting season in the United States.
